The latest update to the Apple Music app on Android officially introduces support for Apple’s lossless and spatial audio features.
Version 3.6 of the Apple Music for Android app, which was rolled out on Thursday, integrates Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio, as shown in the update description As with iPhone devices, lossless audio will only really make a difference with certain speakers or headphones. Apple says the Dolby Atmos-powered spatial audio feature will only work on "compatible devices," but did not name specific Android models.
Apple Music for Android: More new features included
High-quality, lossless audio and Spatial Audio's "3D sound" will be made available to Apple Music subscribers at no additional cost. In addition to these two new features, version 3.6 of the Apple Music for Android app also brings minor updates to library browsing and a new auto-fading feature. Apple previously confirmed that lossless audio and Spatial Audio would be integrated into Apple Music for Android after code in the beta hinted at the new feature. (Photo by dennizn / Bigstockphoto)
