Apple had big plans for its own AirPower charging mat - it should be possible to charge up to three devices at the same time. The special thing - there is no fixed charging position.
AirPower allows you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and the AirPods charging case at the same time. During charging, the user is free to choose the position in which to place the device - there is no need to stick to a specific zone - at least in theory. That was Apple's goal - that would have made AirPower unique. But unfortunately the company failed in this endeavor. end of March Apple officially announced that AirPower would no longer be released - the company did not give a specific reason at the time. According to insiders, the mat was not approved because it had problems with overheating. These were so severe that even the connection between the device and the charging station was disrupted. Another problem lay in the arrangement, because the installed power coils were to be divided into three equal groups. Each of the coils is a different size.
speculation about speculation
Due to a lack of space, it is said to have led to overlaps, which, among other things, caused this severe overheating. But now a new trademark registration relating to AirPower has been discovered by the MySmartPrice platform - what's special about it is that the trademark refers to its actual purpose - a charger for electronic mobile devices. The discovery now offers plenty of material for speculation. Of course, it could be that Apple just wants to protect the trademark - but some believe that Cupertino has not given up on the project internally and is still looking for a solution.
