One of the hottest topics in the rumor mill – Apple's upcoming Netflix competitor. The new streaming service is called Apple TV Plus.
It took over two years to set up. After many rumors about in-house productions, the desire to compete with Netflix and much more, Apple introduced the Apple TV Plus service this evening. The service was presented by Oprah Winfrey, among others.
„We have this unique opportunity to improve ourselves when it comes to how we use our technology and our humanity", said Winfrey. "Each of us comes to this earth with a deep potential that longs to be fulfilled. We all long for connection – we look for common ground. We all want to be heard but we also need to listen.“
Amid applause from the audience, Winfrey explained how she produces documentaries and also brings her famous book club to this new service.

In addition to Oprah Winfrey, Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Aniston were also present. Among the numerous actors were also producers such as Stephen Spielberg and Ron Howard. Apple TV Plus is set to launch in autumn this year. The service is set to be rolled out in over 100 countries initially. The monthly fee for using the service was not further commented on.
