Many iPhone users have been waiting for this feature for a long time. The dual SIM function is being introduced for the first time on iPhones.
A physical SIM card can be inserted into the device and anyone with an additional number can link it to the e-SIM built into the iPhone. In Germany, this service is supported by Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone. Now the network operator Telefonica has announced that it also wants to offer the option. The mobile phone provider did not give a launch date. In addition, no details about the tariffs and conditions were explained.
software update as a prerequisite
The prerequisite for this is a corresponding software update from Apple - this applies to all countries, of course. As soon as this is the case, users could theoretically do without the physical SIM card and keep the contract running via the e-SIM. The SIM slot would then be free for a second card, whether domestically or abroad. It is assumed that Apple will only completely do away with the physical SIM slot once e-SIM is supported by mobile phone providers across the board.
