Sales of the iPhone Xr began on October 26 in over 50 countries. Although there were rumors of initial production problems, Apple was able to produce enough units for the market launch.
A week ago, the Japanese business news agency Nikkei Asian Review reported on iPhone Xr sales. Now the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out again on the subject. According to him, up to 30 million fewer units could be sold than Apple itself expected. According to Kuo, the sales performance is influenced by several negative factors. For example, potential customers would like a dual camera or even a lower price. The trade war with the USA is also not contributing to the willingness to buy in China.
Sales of the other iPhone models would make up for the deficit somewhat - but not enough. A decline in total deliveries of around 15% is expected in the first quarter of 2019. Whether this will really be the case cannot be determined in the future. Apple will no longer provide specific sales figures, the company announced this when it released its last quarterly figures.
