The new iPhone SE has been available since last week and is enjoying great popularity. But this is now overshadowed by the lack of an important feature.
The iPhone XR marked the end of 3D Touch. All iPhone devices now use Haptic Touch, including the iPhone SE 2020. The device is powerful and inexpensive - but what if an important function that every other iPhone has is missing? With the help of Haptic Touch, users can open and answer notifications from the home screen or lock screen. It doesn't matter whether it's WhatsApp, iMessage, etc. The problem is that the new iPhone SE does not support this feature. Reddit a user explains:
Haptic Touch with limitations: bug or intention?
I got my iPhone SE yesterday and discovered very quickly that Haptic Touch is not supported on notifications. I don't see this reported anywhere, haven't seen a review mentioning it, no video I've seen mentioned it. Haptic Touch works for Peek and Pop and on icons on the home screen, but if you're on the lock screen or in Notification Center and try to long press an email to archive or a text to quickly reply, you're out of luck.
But how can that be? While some users believe that this is a bug and that the whole thing can be fixed with a software update, Matthew Panzarino - editor-in-chief of TechCrunch - explained that this is not an error. He claims to have heard this from Apple. Whether Apple deliberately omitted this feature has not yet been officially confirmed. If that is actually the case, it would be an incomprehensible and particularly annoying step. Anyone who wants to buy the device will have to deal with waiting times of up to three weeks at Apple. Amazon, on the other hand, still seems to be well stocked - you can find all iPhone SE 2020 models on Amazon in our official Apfelpatient storefront. (Image: Apple)
