Apple has now acknowledged a problem with the iPhone 8 and is promising a free repair. This means that affected users will have the repair or replacement carried out free of charge by Apple or an authorized Apple dealer.
A small number of iPhone 8 models appear to have a problem with the motherboard. Affected devices suffer from unexpected reboots or the display suddenly freezes.
If the latter happens, users have difficulty restarting the iPhone. An Apple support page allows you to use the serial number to determine which iPhone 8 models suffer from this defect. According to Apple, these devices were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in the following countries: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand and the USA.
Devices sold in Europe are therefore not affected by this defect - at least that is what we currently know. It should also be emphasized that the iPhone 8 Plus does not suffer from the problem with the motherboard.
