An important new feature of the iPhone 14 Pro models is the Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped area that replaces the notch on previous models.
Using software, the Dynamic Island can be transformed into different shapes and sizes, such as for incoming calls, alarms, notifications, Face ID authentication, timers, and more. Dynamic Island will also be integrated with Live Activity in third-party apps later this year. One small detail we now know for sure is that the Dynamic Island will only be visible in screenshots taken on iPhone 14 Pro models while it is being used by apps or when the camera and microphone indicator dots are active.
iPhone 14 Pro: Dynamic Island replaces notch
The screenshot shows the entire Dynamic Island, including any added elements, such as a circular timer icon. On the other hand, the Dynamic Island will not appear in screenshots if it is completely inactive. In this case, the screenshot simply shows the background image behind the Dynamic Island, which matches the screenshot behavior on iPhones with a notch. This approach makes sense because when the Dynamic Island is actively used, it contains information that could be valuable for screenshots. According to the report by Marques Brownlee about the iPhone 14 Pro models, this behavior also applies to screen recordings on these devices. (Image: Apple)
