The reviews for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been published and offer a detailed look at the new high-end phones, including the Always-On Display.
One detail confirmed in reviews is that the Always-On Display doesn't offer any customization options. It only shows a tinted version of the iOS 16 lock screen wallpaper, widgets, and Live Activities when they are active. Users can't customize the Always-On Display, such as what information it selects or whether it shows a dimmed wallpaper or a black background. However, in the Settings under "Display & Brightness," you can disable the Always-On Display completely. Reviewers noticed It's too early to say whether the Always-On Display will have a significant impact on battery life or not, so we'll have to wait a few more weeks before we know what impact it actually has.
iPhone 14 Pro Always-On Display works intelligently
The new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature more energy-efficient OLED displays with a variable refresh rate of just 1 Hz. This is just one of several power-saving features the iPhone 14 Pro has for the Always-On Display. As announced earlier this week reported, the iPhone 14 Pro intelligently detects when a user wearing an Apple Watch paired with the iPhone leaves the room and then deactivates the Always-On display. By deactivating the Always-On display when a user leaves the room, the iPhone 14 Pro saves battery power and protects privacy because the display does not show the user's wallpapers and widgets when the user is not present. In addition, the feature is automatically deactivated when the iPhone is put in a pocket or placed face down on a table. (Image: Apple)
