Apple released the third preview of iOS 15.1 on Wednesday evening, adding ProRes for the iPhone 13 Pro models. The previously promised "Auto Macro" switch was also integrated.
In addition to native support for ProRes video recording, the third iOS 15.1 beta also offers a new switch to disable Auto Macro in the Camera app. With iOS 15 on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the device's camera switches automatically into macro mode as soon as the user gets close to a subject. This can result in an annoying animation in the camera app when the iPhone changes lenses. In some cases, you want to avoid this, which is why a switch is a pretty good idea.
iPhone 13 Pro: The “Auto Macro” switch is coming
In response to the criticism, Apple has promised to introduce a software option to disable automatic macro mode. So with iOS 15.1, the time has come. If you click on "Camera" in the settings, you will see a new switch for "Auto Macro". When this function is activated, it "automatically switches to the ultra-wide-angle camera to take macro photos and videos". If the auto function is deactivated, you can activate macro mode manually by setting the camera to the 0.5x lens and moving closer to your subject and focusing on it. You don't have an iPhone 13 yet?
