Apple today extended its repair program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models with earpiece-related sound dropouts.
According to Apple, the program now covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for up to three years after the first sale of the device, up from two years previously. The one-year extension is valid worldwide. Apple started the repair program in August 2021 after the company discovered that a "very small percentage" of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro units may experience sound issues due to a component that can fail in the earpiece module, also called the receiver.
