Apple introduced a new charger called MagSafe at the "Hi, Speed" event. Important details were also mentioned - here is an overview.
The MagSafe Charger is reminiscent of the Apple Watch charging puck and masters inductive charging. The brand new accessory is able to charge the new iPhone 12 models faster than Qi-based charging options and offers up to 15W of power. Qi-based wireless chargers are still limited to a maximum of 7.5W of charging power when used with an Apple device, so those looking for the fastest "wireless" charging option will/must opt for one of Apple's new MagSafe chargers. Apple has developed an Apple Watch-style MagSafe charging puck for iPhones, along with a dual charger that also includes an Apple Watch charger. The MagSafe charging specifications will also be made available to third-party manufacturers, who will be able to design magnetic chargers for Apple's new iPhone range.
MagSafe compatibility
Accordingly, MagSafe will not be the only option in the long run. According to the product page, MagSafe is compatible with the following devices:
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 11 Pro

- iPhone XS

Although it is not mentioned literally, it can be assumed that the 15W charging option is only intended for the iPhone 12 series. The MagSafe costs around 43.85 euros in this country - the price for the dual option is not yet known.

New in the range: 20W USB-C power adapter
Also new is the 20W USB-C power adapter that comes with the new iPad Air. This is now available for 24.35 euros. The 18W option (costs 29 euros), however, is no longer available.
