Some iPhone 12 users have already reported problems with the display. Among other things, this is said to result in a green/gray glow or flickering. An internal investigation has now been launched.
The US blog MacRumors claims a document receive that shows that Apple has launched an internal display investigation into the iPhone 12 series. The company has admitted to problems with the new screens. Under certain conditions, they flicker green or gray. Other unintended lighting variations can also occur. The document was sent to authorized Apple service providers this week and describes customer reports. The content shows that the company has launched an internal investigation. Apple has also advised technicians to refrain from servicing affected iPhones, at least for the time being. Instead, they should inform customers that they should keep their iPhone up to date with the latest software.

iPhone 12: The green tint in the display is not new
In addition, Apple believes that the problem can be fixed with a future iOS update. This means that it is currently assumed that this is not a hardware problem. Interestingly, this is not the first time. Problems with green-tinted displays have already occurred with the iPhone 11 series. Apple was able to fix the whole thing in iOS 13.6.1. Based on customer reports, the problem only seems to occur when the display brightness is set to around 90% or less. The error is noticeable in both iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2. Users running the iOS 14.3 beta have also discovered the error. It remains to be seen when Apple will provide a corresponding patch. AirPods Pro on special offer at Amazon – available now.
