The battery life of an iPhone is still often criticized today - but users of an iPhone XR have never complained. Apple praised the 2018 entry-level device and repeatedly highlighted it - but now it has been replaced by the 2019 lineup.
The iPhone XR was often called a battery monster - a power bank was not necessary for the colorful iOS device. Now it has had to give up its title to the new iPhone 2019 series and that is a good thing. But how can we measure the whole thing? In order to make a comparison, a new approach must now be taken - Apple has changed the approach slightly. As a reminder: Apple advertises the iPhone XR with 25 hours of talk time, 15 hours of internet use, 16 hours of video playback and 65 hours of audio playback. The iPhone 11, The iPhone 11 Pro and its big brother have fewer values. Therefore, only a limited comparison is currently possible.
iPhone 11 – According to the description, the new entry-level device should run up to an hour longer than the iPhone XR. Apple advertises the new iPhone 11 with 17 hours of video playback and 65 hours of audio playback. Accordingly, the extended battery life of the new device is designed for recording videos.
iPhone 11 Pro – up to four hours more battery life than the iPhone XS. Video playback should be possible for up to 18 hours – audio playback can last for 65 hours.
iPhone 11 Pro Max – up to five hours more battery life than the iPhone XS Max. Video playback should be possible for up to 20 hours – audio playback can last a whopping 80 hours.
It is unclear why Apple does not mention talk times or internet usage but instead highlights video playback - some believe that these values are more important these days than normal phone calls. A direct comparison between the models will be possible after the market launch and will also provide more information in this area.
charging cable 2019
A related and, above all, important topic for many is the included cable. While the iPhone 11 comes with the usual 5-watt charger, Apple is finally including an 18-watt charger with the two iPhone Pro models - this is a USB-C adapter.
The iPhone Pro series still has a Lightning port, which is why a suitable cable is of course also included in the packaging - USB-C to Lightning. Apple states that the fast charger charges around 50 percent of the battery in around 30 minutes.
