Last night Apple released a series of Updates released, including iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4. Now new business features have been announced.
The highlight of the new features is by far the trackpad support. But there are some other new features that have remained hidden until now – for companies. As part of the update, some tools were integrated that make iPads more interesting for companies in particular. The new functions were implemented by the company platform Jamf using a press release announced:
Shared iPad for Business - Apple Business Manager and iPadOS 13.4 introduces support for shared iPad with a Managed Apple ID. Shared iPad for business unlocks brand new use cases for industries to enable a personalized experience for multiple end users while preserving user data. After signing in with a Managed Apple ID on any shared iPad in their organization, users have access to their apps, data, and settings, helping them be productive faster. Shared iPad was previously available to schools with Apple School Manager.
Temporary Session for Shared iPad – With iPadOS 13.4, there are more ways to use Shared iPad. Admins can choose to allow end users to access a temporary session on the Shared iPad without requiring a Managed Apple ID. When a user signs out of a temporary session, the device deletes all user data without requiring a full device wipe. This allows the shared iPad to be available for the next person to use immediately, with no downtime.
Managing macOS Activation Lock – Apple has made it possible for organizations to allow or disallow Activation Lock on macOS 10.15 Catalina. Admins can now collect Activation Lock bypass codes, making it possible to restore computers with Activation Lock enabled.
Support for networked caching and improved visibility - With the ability to remotely enable Internet sharing and networked caching on a Mac, admins can dramatically reduce software installation times for iPad and iPhone, resulting in a better, more efficient mobile device deployment workflow."
The Shared iPad for business feature enables better management of Apple tablets through temporary sessions, making it easier to share devices between employees who need them. This means that with iPadOS 13.4, users can use an iPad without a managed Apple ID and log into a temporary session that removes all session data on the iPad when it ends.
