iOS 14.5 & iPadOS 14.5: Bug fixes, optimizations and corrections
iPad (8th generation), iPad Air (4th generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation), and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) now mute the built-in microphone when the Smart Folio is closed. To avoid unnecessary recording of the muted signal, by default an audio session that uses the built-in microphone is interrupted when the Smart Folio is closed. You can disable the interruption with the new AVAudioSession.CategoryOptions overrideMutedMicrophoneInterruption so that the audio session can continue playing without interruption while the microphone input is muted. For more information, see Responding to audio session interruptions.
The update description suggests that several bugs that were included in the previous beta version have also been fixed. Siri can again share ETAs in CarPlay and vehicles can launch CarPlay if the iPhone has been configured to share contacts. Additionally, locations from Maps can be shared for Notes and Reminders. In addition, there are a few other minor fixes and optimizations. (Photo by xMarshall / Bigstockphoto)
