Clubhouse is a new social network that has been available for a while but has only gained a lot of attention in the last few weeks. Demand has encouraged both Twitter and Facebook to develop competing apps. The app has now reportedly been downloaded eight million times.
Based on data from the market research company App Annie, the Clubhouse app reached 8.1 million downloads worldwide in the iOS App Store on February 16, 2021. For comparison: On February 1, 2021, the app had recorded 3.5 million downloads. The study shows that the app is very popular in Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Brazil and Turkey. The high numbers could be due to the fact that several influencers and high-profile individuals interact with other users on the social network. For example, Tesla founder Elon Musk and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg have already created a Clubhouse account and interacted with other users there. Other celebrities and high-profile individuals have also already used the new app. You don't know Clubhouse yet? The app is a social network that is completely based on audio chats.
Clubhouse: Reserve your username and wait for an invitation
Users can create and join rooms where multiple people talk in real time, which can be compared to a live podcast in some ways. There are no other ways to interact and conversations are not recorded, meaning you can't listen back to a chat that's already over. These numbers are even more impressive when you consider that Clubhouse is an iPhone-only app and requires an invite - which may be one of the reasons the app has become so popular, as people are curious about it. Meanwhile, Twitter has expanded its Spaces audio feature to more users and Facebook is reportedly working on a Clubhouse competitor. If you're interested in trying Clubhouse, you can download the app for free from the App Store download and reserve your username. Once you receive an invitation from a friend, you can get started.
