Apple has made the second beta version of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, watchOS 11.4, macOS 15.4 and visionOS 2.4 available to developers. These beta versions are part of the continuous development of the operating systems and bring new features and optimizations. It is not yet known which specific changes are included in the second beta version.
The first beta of iOS 18.4 has already introduced some notable new features. One of the most striking is the new Apple News+ Food category, which gives subscribers access to an extensive recipe database. Apple has also introduced priority notifications, which visually highlight particularly important messages to distinguish them from other notifications. The Image Playground, the AI-supported image generation tool, has also been expanded. In addition to the previous "Animation" and "Illustration" styles, there is now a sketch option that simulates hand-drawn graphics.
iOS 18.4 brings Apple Intelligence to the EU
Another major update concerns Apple Intelligence, which is now available in ten more languages, including German, French and Spanish. The Genmoji interface has also been improved and the ability to set a default translation app worldwide and a default navigation app in the EU has been added. Other optimizations include CarPlay, which gets a redesigned interface with an additional row of apps, and new music modes in the Control Center. In addition, the redesigned Mail app, which was already available for the iPhone, has now also been introduced for iPad and Mac.
visionOS 2.4 brings Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro
visionOS 2.4 also brings some exciting new features. The biggest of these is the integration of Apple Intelligence, which offers AI-supported writing tools, image generation and smart replies for messages and emails. The Spatial Gallery has also been introduced, a collection of curated 3D content for the Apple Vision Pro, which presents content from brands such as Cirque du Soleil and Red Bull. The upcoming Apple Vision Pro app for the iPhone makes it possible to manage Vision Pro apps and content directly from the smartphone. An improved guest function also makes it easier for multiple people to use Vision Pro, as settings for hand and eye tracking can now be saved for up to 30 days.
iOS 18.4 and Co.: No details yet on the changes in Beta 2
There is currently no concrete information about what new features or optimizations Apple has introduced with the second beta of iOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4 and the other operating systems.
