Last Monday, Apple released iOS 16 to all users worldwide. It introduced some new features to the lock screen, iMessage and more. However, the update is causing headaches for many users.
After the update, some users have started experiencing various issues ranging from slow system performance to dead battery. Over the past few days, iPhone 14 Pro users have been reporting certain bugs associated with Apple's latest high-end iPhones, such as camera shake, problems activating iMessage and FaceTime, and more. But there are also other issues affecting the broad group of iOS 16 users.
Extreme battery discharge
After a major iOS update, it is normal for your iPhone’s battery to drain faster as it performs indexing and background tasks. Some users on Twitter, Reddit and other forums - including in our community - are reporting excessive battery drain days after the update. Other users are reporting an improvement in battery life compared to iOS 15, so the overall experience is rather mixed.
Slow Spotlight search
Another issue faced by iOS 16 users is the slow performance of Spotlight search. Users report that Spotlight on iOS 16 sometimes takes up to 10 seconds to load results and sometimes doesn't load at all. For this particular bug, several users have reported that resetting all settings has significantly improved Spotlight search performance. However, an official solution and/or fix has not been released by Apple yet.
iOS 16.0.2: New iOS 16 update to be released next week
Apple recently confirmed that it is already aware of some issues that users are experiencing, such as camera shake on the latest iPhone 14 Pro. According to the company, an iOS 16 update will be released next week. The update, most likely iOS 16.0.2, will fix issues with the camera, the annoying copy and paste prompt, and iMessage and FaceTime activation. The update could also fix other issues that users are experiencing, such as battery drain and slow Spotlight search. (Photo by Engdao / Bigstockphoto)
