In iOS 16, you can edit and delete texts sent via the Messages app – but there is a time limit.
When iOS 16 is released in the fall, the Messages app will get a number of new features. Two new features give users more control over which messages they send to other iMessage users. Users can edit messages to correct annoying typos or expand the text if necessary. They can also delete messages to remove them from the chat entirely. These features are only available for messages sent via iMessage, recognizable by the blue background.
iOS 16 includes new features for iMessage
The feature does not work for SMS messages with a "green bubble," meaning the message remains as it was when first sent. The new features come with a few caveats. The first is that they have a strict time limit. You only have 15 minutes to edit or delete a message - after that, it cannot be changed. Apple also points out that older versions of iOS do not respond to cancellation requests. In these cases, recipients with older versions of the operating system can see the messages, even if they have been deleted by the sender. Apple announced a number of new features for iOS 16 and Co. on Monday as part of the WWDC 2022 keynote. The new features include Safety Check, support for multi-stop routing in Apple Maps and Continuity Camera. Whether your device is compatible with the new software, you can find out here.
