iOS 16.2 & Co.: Revised architecture of the Home app leads to improved performance
The Home app allows users to communicate more efficiently with connected accessories and control them from multiple devices at once. Updating the Home app architecture requires that all Apple devices that access the Home are using the latest software. To install the update, users will need at least iOS 16.2 and the HomePod 16.2 software, which is currently available as a beta version to a limited number of testers.
