In the iOS 16.1 beta, Apple gives AirPods Pro 2 users the option to disable touch volume control.
One feature of the new AirPods Pro is that users can increase or decrease the volume by swiping up or down on the AirPods Pro touch sensor on each stem. Some users may find this feature useful, others may not. On iOS 16.0.2, the current public version of iOS 16, users cannot disable touch controls for volume (via MacRumors).
iOS 16.1 gives AirPods Pro 2 users the choice
However, the beta version of iOS 16.1 includes a new option under Accessibility for the second-generation AirPods Pro that allows you to enable or disable touch controls for volume. As before, users can customize the press-and-hold function of the AirPods Pro, for example to activate active noise cancellation, transparency mode, turn it off, or invoke Siri. iOS 16.1 is currently available to developers and members of Apple's public beta program and is expected to be released in October. In addition to the new toggle for the AirPods Pro, iOS 16.1 will also include changes to the battery indicator and more. (Image: Apple)
