Apple has now confirmed that the Live Activity feature on the lock screen will be available with iOS 16.1.
Apple shared the Information on with the developers and said that the ActivityKit API is available so developers can build Live Activities into their apps. Live Activities are interactive notifications that are always up to date and allow you to keep an eye on things happening in real time right on the lock screen.
iOS 16.1 Live Activities: Dynamic Island also benefits
For example, if you're watching a sports game, you can see the current score on the lock screen, or if you're waiting for an Uber ride, you can see if your driver is approaching. You can watch live activity on the lock screen, and iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users will also see live activity in the Dynamic Island. Apple said apps with live activity can be submitted to the App Store once the iOS 16.1 release candidate is available to developers. Until then, developers can test the feature using TestFlight.
