In iOS 15, Apple has not only added new functions but also expanded and improved existing ones. In addition, improvements have also been made in the area of security.
According to a new security document, affecting iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, there was a Face ID vulnerability that could have allowed a Face ID iPhone to be unlocked and authenticated using a 3D model that looks like the iPhone's owner. Apple says this issue has been addressed with improvements to the Face ID feature, which is available on the iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS (all models), iPhone 11 (all models), iPhone 12 (all models), iPad Pro (11-inch), and iPad Pro (3rd generation).
iOS 15 brings more security
The iOS 15 update contains a number of other security fixes. However, Apple says none of these vulnerabilities have been exploited in the wild. For example, there was an issue with the Neural Engine that could allow an application to execute arbitrary code with system privileges on devices with a Neural Engine. Additionally, a CoreML bug could allow attackers to unexpectedly terminate applications or execute arbitrary code. Apple also fixed issues with FontParser, Preferences, Siri, WebKit, and WiFi, all of which are described in Apple's full security document. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
