Late Thursday evening, Apple released the second beta of iOS 15 and Co. for registered developers. Apple seems to have activated the brand new SharePlay feature.
Apple has now, somewhat less surprisingly, released the second beta of iOS 15 and Co. publishedIt is not yet known how many new features have been added. However, one new function has already been discovered - SharePlay. Apple describes the feature as follows:
We love sharing experiences, and that's why we created SharePlay. SharePlay is a powerful new set of shared experience features you can enjoy when you're on a FaceTime call.
SharePlay will soon be available in third-party applications
SharePlay allows users to share media within a FaceTime call, including TV shows, movies and music from multiple providers. Apple Music support is also included, complete with synchronization of playback across multiple users. A screen sharing option is also available. According to Jordi Bruin, the developer of a new navigation app that brings subtitles and translation to FaceTime calls, Apple has started accepting apps that use the GroupActivities framework through App Store Connect, meaning third-party apps that want to offer SharePlay integration will likely soon be available in beta through TestFlight.
