Apple released iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1, and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 yesterday. According to a newly published support document, the updates fix a serious security vulnerability that may have been exploited in the wild.
Apple says that due to a memory corruption issue, an application may have been able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. documentation:

Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
The vulnerability was fixed with improved memory handling. Since this is a security issue that may have affected some users, all iPhone and iPad users should update to iOS 14.7.1 and iPadOS 14.7.1 as soon as possible. The same vulnerability was also fixed in macOS Big Sur 11.5.1. The iOS 14.7.1 update also fixes a bug that could prevent Touch ID iPhones from unlocking an Apple Watch.
