Currently, some users are struggling with massive battery problems. According to various reports, the battery is said to drain faster under iOS 14.2 and behaves strangely after a restart.
Both on Reddit as well as in Apple's Developer Forum There are increasing reports of strange iPhone battery behavior. In addition to rapid discharge, charging times are also said to be longer than usual. Some users report that their devices lose more than 50 percent of battery in less than 30 minutes and experience large drops of around five percent within minutes during normal use. The problem appears to be related to the software (iOS 14.2). Several users stated that after a drop, battery life increases again as soon as the device is restarted. Interestingly, according to the reports, older iPhone models seem to be affected, including the iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6S and the first generation iPhone SE. There are also entries referring to an iPad Pro 2018 running iPadOS 14.2.
Is iOS 14.2.2 coming? Reports about various bug reports are increasing
iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 were released just two weeks after iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1 publishedThe current versions include new emojis, intercom, AirPods with optimized battery charging, person recognition and new wallpapers. iOS 14.2.1 is currently available for iPhone 12 users, which includes three major problems to fix:
- Some MMS messages could not be received
- Hearing aids with the "Made for iPhone" logo could experience problems with audio quality when listening to audio via the iPhone
- The lock screen may no longer respond on the iPhone 12 mini
Due to the large number of error messages, including from iPhone 12 users, it is expected that Apple will provide an update soon. iOS 14.3 is currently being tested in the third beta. It is not impossible that the company will provide iOS 14.2.2 in the meantime. At least it would be desirable. (Photo by blackzheep / Bigstockphoto)
