Apple released the first beta of iOS 13.5.5 or iPadOS 13.5.5 earlier this week. Now references have been discovered in the beta code that promise new keyboard shortcuts for Apple's iPad keyboards.
Many iPad users use Apple's Smart Keyboard or the new Magic Keyboard and are generally very happy with them. But there is one major criticism - the lack of function keys. Keyboards usually contain a number of function keys that allow quick adjustments such as screen brightness, media control and more. But Apple's iPad keyboards do not offer anything like that because there is simply no space for it. Now the company seems to be working on a replacement.
Keyboard shortcuts: Many questions remain unanswered
As the US blog 9to5mac reported, iPadOS 13.5.5 contains hints that Cupertino is working on corresponding keyboard shortcuts. These are intended to control the brightness of the iPad. The backlight of the new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro series should also be customizable. It is currently not known whether further functions are planned. It also remains unclear whether these new keyboard shortcuts can be individually configured. It also remains open whether the feature will be introduced under iOS 13.5.5 or will appear later. A launch under iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 would also be possible. AirPods Pro on special offer at Amazon – now available for 228 euros. (Photo by franz12 / Bigstockphoto)
