Apple released an update for all five operating systems on Tuesday. The main innovation under iOS 13.3 is called “Communication Limit” – found in the “Screen Time” section.
The new "communication limit" feature allows parents to control their children's communication using "screen time". The function can therefore restrict contact with other people. Parents can limit communication to certain people or completely prevent contact with people who are not in the phone book. Actually a pretty useful feature. But now it has turned out that the function contains a bug. This allows children to bypass the block. A new report from the news channel CNBC explains the error. If screen time is active with the above-mentioned restriction, the child may not be able to respond to a message from an unknown number. A parent would have to save the number in the phone book first. But the whole thing can be bypassed if the affected device is connected to an Apple Watch.
Apple confirms error and provides solution
According to this, a paired Apple Watch is the solution and would allow you to write messages or call the "unknown" number regardless of whether it is blocked. Apple has already responded to the CNBC report and confirmed the error. A patch is in the works - according to Cupertino. At the same time, the company presented a temporary solution. According to this, parents can close this gap by forcing the device to synchronize contacts with iCloud. This means that anyone who synchronizes their contacts with Google Mail or other services by default is affected by the error. Apple's solution is as follows:
Open the iOS settings and then navigate to the “Contacts” section. Now select “Default Account” and change the setting to “iCloud”.
