The next major iOS update is expected in the next few days. Apple has already published the updated iOS user guide for iOS 12.1 in iBooks.
It is titled “iPhone User Guide for iOS 12.1” and shows the associated innovations using screenshots. Individual explanations of the new features can also be found. With iOS 12.1 we can expect, among other things, the activation of the eSim in the new iPhones, real-time depth of field control for portrait photos and group FaceTime. Up to 32 people can take part in the video or audio chat.
Group Facetime not for every iPhone
In order to start a video chat with 32 people at the same time, the iPhone must have at least an A9 chip (iPhone SE, iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S Plus). This means that iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners have to limit themselves to audio chat. According to the data sheet, the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and iPad Air are also not supported. So at least an iPad Air 2 is required here.
