Apple updated iMovie & GarageBand for iOS this evening. The update includes a number of new features and more.
Apple today updated the iOS application for video editing iMovie to version 2.3 updated and introduced a number of new features. There is support for viewing, editing and sharing high dynamic range videos from the photo library. There is also an option to import and share 4K videos at 60 frames per second. Titles can be customized using the built-in fonts with simple tools to adjust title style and capitalization. There are also three new animated title options. In addition, a slider can now be used to adjust the intensity of photo and video filters as needed. Solid, gradient and patterned backgrounds can also be added to a movie. In addition to iMovie, GarageBand has also been added updatedA new "Keyboard Collection" sound pack with more than 150 keyboard loops has been added. iMovie version 2.3:
- Customize titles with dozens of available built-in fonts
- Adjust the color of titles by selecting from a grid or a range of presets, using numeric controls or the eyedropper in the viewer
- Quickly change a title's default style, capitalization, and duration
- Adjust the size and position of titles by pinching and dragging
- Choose from three new animated titles: “Glide”, “Split” and “Chromatic” (two-tone)
- Add backgrounds to your movie – solid, patterned or gradient
- Adjusting background colors using the color picker
- Change the intensity with which filters are applied to your photos and videos by dragging a slider
- Import and share videos in 4K at 60 frames per second*
- View, edit, and share HDR (high dynamic range) videos in your photo library**
- Share projects or video files and select properties such as resolution, frame rate and HDR by tapping the new options button in the share sheet**

GarageBand version 2.3.9:
- New audio recordings can be started directly from the home screen by touching and holding the GarageBand app icon.
- The maximum song length at standard tempo has been extended from 23 to 72 minutes.
- The ruler now has an option to switch from musical bars and beats to minutes and seconds.
- The new “Keyboard Collection” sound pack is available for download. It contains over 150 keyboard loops and 50 instrument patches such as pianos, organs and electric pianos.
