For months, there have been reports about a brand new MacBook Pro with an almost edgeless display. According to rumors, the 16-inch professional notebook will be introduced this fall. Now Huawei is introducing just such a device - and it becomes clear that it could actually look like a MacBook.
It is called the Honor 16.1-inch MagicBook Pro and is very reminiscent of a MacBook Pro. The MagicBook Pro brand is not new - the notebook series from Huawei is heavily inspired by Apple's MacBook Pro line-up. Nevertheless, the Chinese have now got there before Cupertino. The new top model appears with a 16.1-inch edge-to-edge display and could pass as the new MacBook Pro. Compared to Apple's current 15-inch MacBook Pro, it is said to be lighter and smaller - but in terms of performance, it cannot keep up with the professional notebook from Cupertino.
Performance comparable to MacBook Air
The Huawei MagicBook Pro uses a 15W TDP Intel CPU with four cores - so it can be compared to a MacBook Air or entry-level MacBook. The Huawei notebook also has an SSD with 512 GB storage and an Nvidia GeForce MX250. The Honor MagicBook Pro will be released in China at the end of July. It remains unclear for now whether the device will debut internationally.
First redesign since 2016
Apple's upcoming 16-inch notebook is expected to launch sometime in Autumn and represents the first significant redesign of the MacBook Pro chassis since 2016. In addition to the fact that it is a powerhouse that is set to set new records – many believe that this will be the first new Apple laptop to come with a new keyboard technology will enter the ring.
