Apple released iOS 14.3 for the HomePod mini and the classic model in the middle of the month provided. It has now been discovered that the update gives the Mini model support for selected 18-watt power supplies.
Like in a Reddit thread mentioned, by The 8-Bit discovered , HomePod mini now works with Apple's own 18W USB-C power adapter and select 18W adapters from third-party manufacturers like Aukey. One user was even able to power HomePod mini with an 18W battery pack from Cygnett, allowing for portable use. Previously, when users attempted to use HomePod mini with a power adapter rated at less than 20W, the speaker would simply display an orange light and be inoperable. This may still be the case with certain 18W power adapters, as certain power profiles are required. Apple includes a 20W charger with HomePod mini, but some customers may want to use the 18W charger originally included with the iPhone 11 Pro or an iPad Pro for various reasons. (Image: Apple)
