Apple started a new beta round yesterday evening. Among other things, iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 were rolled out. The new version expands the Home app to benefit the HomePod.
Apple has launched a new beta round and released iOS 14.7 provided. Like iOS 14.6, the update doesn't seem to bring any significant changes - at least so far. However, with the new version of iOS, users will be able to set timers on the HomePod using the Home app on the iPhone, iPad and possibly on the Mac, as 9to5mac reported. Setting timers on the HomePod is definitely nothing new, and since iOS 12, users have been able to add multiple timers at once. However, until now, you had to do this through Siri on the HomePod. Now, Apple is making this process a little easier with iOS 14.7. With the latest version of iOS, if you go to the HomePod settings in the Home app, there is now the option to set timers directly from there without having to ask Siri.
iOS 14.7: HomePod timers can also be queried
This new option is located right below the HomePod alarms. When you set a new timer, the Home app will ask if you want to give it a name - which you can also do with Siri. After you've added the timer, you can see the countdown for all timers in the Home app and cancel them from there too. Please note: In addition to iOS 14.7, the HomePod software 14.7 must also be installed on the smart speakers. At the moment, the feature seems to be unfinished, as several text labels are missing. Based on the code, it will also be possible to ask Siri on the iPhone about the status of the HomePod timers. But this feature has not yet been implemented in Beta 1.
