With Google AdSense, publishers can place advertising on their own website relatively easily. The revenue can then be viewed via the web or an app for iOS and Android - this is now set to change.
As has now become known, Google wants to completely eliminate the AdSense app for iOS and Android this year - the company confirmed this in its own Inside AdSense blog. Although more than a third of all AdSense users use the app, Google wants to take the step as quickly as possible. Google's replacement is the web, with the company explicitly pointing out how important the mobile area is. The current AdSense website is to be converted into a progressive web app.
"By the end of 2019"
“By investing in a common web application that supports all platforms, we can deliver mobile-optimized AdSense features much faster than we can today,” said the AdSense team.
AdSense for iOS and Android will be shut down "by the end of 2019," but no exact date was given. The announcement states that the application will no longer work on existing devices after it is removed from the app stores. More details will follow later in the year, according to Google.
