Google has updated its 2FA Authenticator app for iOS and integrated an important – long-awaited – feature. From now on, users can easily and quickly transfer their stored accounts to a new device.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) refers to the proof of a user's identity by combining two different and, in particular, independent components. This is where Google Authenticator comes into play. If you want to log into an online account, you need a password and a six-digit code that is generated within the Authenticator app. Anyone who buys a new iPhone now has to transfer all the accounts stored on it, which is very time-consuming. But that is finally over. Google has a update provided, which enables the device relocation in simple steps quickly and easily.
Google Authenticator: Export account – here's how
In version 3.1.0, it is possible to transfer up to ten accounts to another device at the same time. The process can be started via the three-dot menu. To do this, select "Export account" and follow the instructions. Now you have to authenticate yourself using Touch ID / Face ID. You can then select up to ten accounts and tap "export". At this point, a QR code is created that can be scanned by another iPhone. Once this is complete, the move is complete. In addition to account export, Google Authenticator now supports dark mode. This is activated as soon as dark mode is activated system-wide. (Photo by bigtunaonline / Bigstockphoto)
