In 2016, Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone for the first time and from then on included the Lightning to jack adapter with new devices.

In the future, Apple will also be selling the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 without the small adapter. This is stated on Apple's website. There are also already complaints on Reddit. In the future, the plug must be purchased from Apple for 10 euros. Alternatively, it is also available from third-party suppliers for around 4.99 euros. However, one thing should be considered - when using the small adapter, the sound quality decreases. Nevertheless, the adapter still seems to be very popular. It is considered by the US retail chain Best Buy as the best-selling Apple product.
