An exciting new feature could be on the horizon in iOS 17, as Apple may be working on integrating macOS Game Mode into its mobile devices as well. Game Mode is already available in macOS Sonoma and optimizes system settings for better gaming performance on the Mac. Now 9to5Mac has discovered interesting clues in the code of the fourth beta version of iOS 17 that suggest that Apple is experimenting with a Game Mode for iOS and iPadOS.
While the current iOS 17 update does not bring any groundbreaking new features, the find indicates of these frameworks in the code hints at possible future developments. Apple seems to want to improve gaming performance on its mobile devices by prioritizing resources for games. Game Mode promises a smoother gaming experience and reduced Bluetooth latency, which is of particular interest to gamers with AirPods or Bluetooth controllers. As beta testing progresses, it will become clear whether Game Mode will actually be implemented in iOS and iPadOS. However, it remains unclear whether it will only be available for the iPad or also for the iPhone.
Will Apple implement Game Mode in iOS 17 & iPadOS 17?
During the beta phase, Apple often experiments with new features and not all of them make it into the final version. iOS 17 already has many exciting features such as lock screen customization options, improved iMessage and FaceTime features, a sleep mode and interactive widgets. However, the possible integration of Game Mode could be an additional attraction for gamers. It remains to be seen how development continues and whether Game Mode will ultimately see the light of day.
