Welcome to a new era of professional video editing and music production on iPad! Apple just announced the latest versions of its popular Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro 2 apps, designed specifically for iPad. These updates bring revolutionary features and take advantage of the powerful new M4 processor to take creativity and efficiency to new levels.
With the introduction of the new iPad Pro and its enhanced capabilities, Apple has also made major updates to its leading creative apps, Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro 2. These updates make the most of the fast M4 processor and offer professionals in the field of video and audio production impressive new possibilities.
New features in Final Cut Pro 2
live multicam editing
One of the most exciting new features in Final Cut Pro 2 is the Live Multicam feature. Will Hui, Apple's product manager for creative apps, explains:
Live Multicam allows filmmakers to use and control up to four cameras simultaneously.
This opens up completely new possibilities for on-set production by allowing settings such as exposure and focus to be adjusted in real time.

Final Cut Camera app
In addition to Live Multicam, the new free Final Cut Camera app supports the recording of high-quality camera footage directly to the iPad. This makes production more flexible and editing easier, as all settings can be controlled centrally from the iPad.
processing of external projects
Final Cut Pro 2 now allows you to edit projects stored on external storage media. This feature is supported by the iPad Pro's fast Thunderbolt connection and offers improved performance with up to four times more streams of ProRes RAW compared to the M1.
New features in Logic Pro 2
AI-based session players
In Logic Pro 2, Apple has expanded audio editing capabilities by introducing AI-based Session Players. Will Hui says of the new AI Session Players that generate bass and keyboard sounds:
With simple controls you can set the perfect performance for your track.
Stem Splitter for Remixing
Another exciting feature is the new Stem Splitter, which allows you to break down a finished music track into individual components and edit them in isolation for further processing.

Availability and prices
Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad will be available later in the spring, while Logic Pro 2 for iPad will be available starting May 13, 2024. Both apps require iPadOS 17.4 or later and remain available as a subscription for $50 annually or $4.99 monthly.
