In addition to the two cheaper iPhone 14 models, Apple also introduced the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Below you will find a summary of all the new features.
The new iPhone 14 Pro is the centerpiece of Apple's "Far Out" event. The two high-end models have the biggest difference since the iPhone 13 series of 2021 experience. As expected, only the Pro models have received Apple's A16 processor, making it the first time the Pro models are powered by a newer chip than the regular iPhone line. The new display has an HDR brightness of 1600 nits, the same as the Pro Display XDR. On a bright day, it reaches a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
iPhone 14 Pro series: New chip, always-on display and more
Apple has also introduced an always-on display that shows content even when the phone is not in use. Live activity, the clock, widgets, and dynamic wallpapers are dimmed but still readable. Notifications are behind the Dynamic Island, as Apple calls the new Face ID sensor housing. Animations and transitions use the sensor housing as a base for displaying content that adapts to app events. The A16 Bionic is more powerful while also being more efficient. It uses a 5-core GPU for intensive graphical tasks.

Major camera upgrade
The main camera uses a new 48MP sensor that can capture photos in sharp 12MP image sizes. It combines four pixels into one large photo pixel to capture more light. The larger sensor size also allows for 2x zoom at full size, as the 48MP sensor can be cropped without sacrificing quality. If you use ProRAW, you can capture full-size photos at 48MP. The ultra-wide camera is still 12MP, but can capture 3x more light. This allows for much better macro photography. Cinematic mode can capture in full 4K resolution at 30 frames per second thanks to the new image signal processor. In terms of connectivity, Apple is introducing SOS emergency calling via satellite on the Pro models.

Apple's satellite support
Users can send an emergency text message via satellite if they are in an area with a weak signal. Using a compression system that reduces the size of text messages by a third, the system can send a text message in less than 15 seconds. The relay centers set up by Apple forward the messages to emergency services that only work with phone calls. The satellite function will be introduced in the US and Canada in November and is free for two years after purchasing an iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are available in Space Black, Silver, Gold and Deep Purple. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,099. Pre-orders will be accepted from September 9th, while deliveries will start on September 16th. (Image: Apple)
