Facebook has been planning to merge Instagram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp for some time. Recently, Instagram and Messenger became one unit. Now there is also news about the integration of WhatsApp into Facebook Messenger.
WABetaInfo according to the Italian leaker Alessandro Paluzzi found a new hidden change in Facebook Messenger: a WhatsApp chat in Messenger. It is not yet possible to use the extension. But what Paluzzi did was simply force a thread that is recognized as a WhatsApp conversation to show how it will look when the feature is available in the future.
WhatsApp gets more Facebook Messenger features
The leaker suspects that the connection between WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger will be completely optional, as is already the case between Instagram and Messenger. WABetaInfo explains that "several features that have already been implemented in Facebook Messenger are likely to appear in WhatsApp as well." Another feature that the app is testing as part of the TestFlight beta program is a redesigned mention badge, which is different from a reply within a group chat. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently being tested for iOS, so it might be a while before it officially appears in WhatsApp. (Photo by Unsplash / Alexander Shatov)
