Facebook confirmed last year that there would be a new native Facebook Messenger app for macOS. Now the company has started the rollout three months late.
Facebook has started making the new Facebook Messenger app available in the Mac App Store. The French Apple Blog MacGeneration was the first to make the discovery. However, the application currently seems to be limited to the French Mac App Store to be available. If the link is opened, a message appears stating that the app is not available in Germany. Originally, the new application for macOS was supposed to be available worldwide by the end of 2019. According to MacGeneration, the new Facebook Messenger is based on Electron and not Catalyst, as initially thought. In addition to the native app, Facebook Messenger is also available in web But a desktop application is of course more practical in this case.
