One of the most used system-level features on iOS has been missing from the Facebook app for a few days now. As reported by many Facebook users, the Dark Mode option in Facebook for iOS has disappeared without any explanation.
Facebook users have been complaining on various social media platforms about the sudden disappearance of dark mode support. This affects both Facebook's support for system-wide dark mode in iOS and the in-app dark mode option, which was previously available in the Settings menu of the Facebook app itself. Not only does this mean that Facebook no longer respects your system-wide dark mode settings, but there is also no way to manually enable it directly in the Facebook app. While this is not a fatal bug, it can result in a pretty annoying visual inconsistency, especially if you have system-wide dark mode enabled on your iPhone.
Missing Dark Mode in Facebook: Not all users are affected
Interestingly, not all users are affected by the problem. I, for one, have no complaints about the feature - but I have complaints about a whole list of other functions related to the page manager. Anyway. Although it is obviously a bug, Facebook has not confirmed the problem or given a timetable for a solution. So those affected will have to be patient. Pursue doesn't provide release notes for updates it releases for Facebook for iOS. But updates are released roughly every 5-7 days, so it's likely that one of those recent updates also included a change that inadvertently caused dark mode to disappear from the Facebook app for iOS.
