After Twitter announced its new Super Follow feature, Instagram is taking a similar approach and working on an “Exclusive Stories” feature with a similar purpose.
In recent weeks, reverse engineer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi has been able to gain first-hand showhow the "Exclusive Stories" feature will work. Similar to Close Friends but in purple instead of green, this feature will probably only be available for creator accounts. Instagram confirmed to TechCrunch that it is working on the feature, but the company declined to provide specific details about its plans. In the report is called it:
The company is not yet able to talk about this project.
When a user interacts with a story that is only available to members, Instagram will display a message saying:
Only members of this user can see this story.

Instagram “Exclusive Stories”: Will Apple’s payment system be used?
When the creator shares their very first exclusive story, Instagram will display a message encouraging the user to save it as a highlight for their fans:
Great job on your first exclusive story! Save it as a highlight so your fans always have something to see when they join.

Twitter Super Follows, for example, will be a monthly subscription that allows users to receive exclusive content, deals and community access to content creators for $4.99 a month. How Instagram will implement the new feature remains to be seen. It also remains to be seen whether the Facebook subsidiary will use Apple's payment system for this purpose or find another solution. Twitter has opted for Apple's payment system, i.e. an in-app purchase, and will therefore have to hand over the 30 percent to Cupertino. (Photo by SoniaBonet / Bigstockphoto)
