Apple this week added a new "Ethics and Compliance" webpage to its official homepage, highlighting some of the company's policies created to ensure business conduct complies with the law.
On the website, which was quietly launched within Apple's main website, the company describes in detail how it ensures compliance with laws at Apple, the company's code of conduct, and how it conducts independent assessments to ensure that these policies are effective with employees.
Apple conducts its business ethically, honestly, and in full compliance with the law. We believe that the way we behave is as important to Apple's success as making the best products in the world. Our policies on business conduct and legal compliance are fundamental to how we do business and how we put our values into practice every day.
Apple says all employees must ensure they have read and understood Apple's policies before joining the company, and they must re-read them every year.
“Ethics and Compliance”: Apple conducts regular investigations
At the same time, the website states that Apple has teams dedicated to business conduct and compliance in the areas of politics, antitrust, health, and anti-corruption. There are also links to PDF files detailing how the company ensures compliance for each of these topics, which also includes Apple's responsibility for human rights and environmental protection in its supply chains.
We conduct internal and independent assessments of our programs to ensure they are effective. We make changes to our policies and training to reflect new trends. Apple's Chief Compliance Officer regularly briefs the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
