Apple announced last night the expansion of the Apple Developer Program funding program.
Apple is committed to increasing its support of non-profit organizations, accredited educational institutions and government agencies. The company has announced in a notice announced the following in the developer portal:
We're pleased to announce that Apple Developer Program membership is now free for eligible organizations based in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico, and South Korea. Nonprofit organizations, accredited educational institutions, and government entities that plan to distribute only free applications on the App Store can apply for a waiver of annual membership fees.
According to this, so-called non-profit organizations can submit an application for fee exemption. After a careful review, the applicants can be accepted or rejected. As part of this review, Apple reserves the right to request various relevant documents. However, anyone who submits paid apps or introduces in-app purchases after successful confirmation will be downgraded to the usual Apple Developer Enterprise Program.
