At the beginning of the year, reports about the alleged Apple Car reached a new high. Now BMW's CFO has also commented on the topic.
As reported by Bloomberg, Nicolas Peter stated in an interview that he sleeps "very peacefully" despite the increasing rumors about Apple's plans to build an autonomous electric vehicle. Peter stressed that competition is a "wonderful thing" and that BMW is well positioned to deal with the increasing competition in the auto industry.
I sleep very soundly. Competition is a wonderful thing - it helps motivate others. We are in a very strong position and we want to remain in a leading position in the industry.
Apple Car with “groundbreaking battery technology”?
BMW is not the first automaker to take a relaxed view of Apple's possible entry into the industry. Last month explained The CEO of Volkswagen said that the company was not worried about an entry of Apple into the car business because it is "not a typical tech sector that you can take over in one fell swoop." Cupertino's plans to develop an Apple Car that is fully electric and fully autonomous have recently been detailed in various reports. For several weeks, it looked as if Apple was close to a deal for Apple Car production with Hyundai subsidiary Kia Motors, but these talks ultimately fell through. If the rumor mill is to be believed, Apple could start production in 2024 at the earliest - the use of "groundbreaking battery technology" is expected. (Photo by TierneyMJ / Bigstockphoto)
