The service provider iFixIt reportedIf the space bar is broken, there is no chance of removing the cover without destroying the entire key. This is due to the particularly thin keycaps, which are held to the key unit by very sensitive plastic parts. Consequently, in such a case the entire keyboard must be replaced. Fortunately, Apple recently launched a free exchange program (to the report) – here too, the iGroup is particularly accommodating; multiple replacements of the butterfly keyboard remain free of charge, as revealed by an internal support document.
