In an updated support document, Apple explains that customers who own an Apple Watch Ultra or another larger Apple Watch model with a case size of 44mm, 45mm, or 49mm may need to adjust the angle of the MagSafe Duo Charger or lay it completely flat to ensure the charger connects correctly to the Apple Watch.
If the Apple Watch Ultra still does not connect reliably to the MagSafe Duo Charger, recommends Apple recommends removing the watch's band before placing it on the charger. As Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported last week, the Apple Watch Ultra is not included in the list of devices compatible with the MagSafe Duo Charger. That's likely because it doesn't fit as well due to its larger case (49mm) and bulky design.
Charging Apple Watch Ultra with MagSafe Duo should be possible
The new Apple Watch Series 8, however, is listed as compatible, as are all Apple Watch SE models. The MagSafe Duo is a foldable charging mat that contains both a MagSafe charger for iPhones and a magnetic charging puck for the Apple Watch. Apple launched the accessory in late 2020, before the launch of the 45 mm and 49 mm Apple Watch models. Note that the MagSafe Duo charger cannot quickly charge the Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8 or Series 7. Don't have a MagSafe Duo charger yet?
