Spotify has started rolling out support for standalone streaming via the Spotify app for Apple Watch.
The new feature allows Spotify users to listen to music or podcasts on the Apple Watch via Wi-Fi or cellular. An iPhone is no longer required for this. The Spotify app has been available on the Apple Watch for a good two years. However, a standalone streaming option was not part of the range of functions until now. The brand new feature has been tested for some time. However, an iPhone was previously required for this, even on models with a cellular connection. With the final version, all of this changes. Spotify can now stream music independently on an Apple Watch.

However, Bluetooth headphones are required for this. Users of an Apple Watch with eSim can safely leave their iPhone at home while they go jogging, for example. Now the whole thing is to be finally rolled out. Spotify has opposite TechCrunch made the following statement:
We're focused on building experiences that enable people to listen to Spotify wherever and whenever they want, regardless of device or platform. After an initial testing phase, we're now introducing streaming capabilities for Spotify on Apple Watch.
